The Park

The usually deserted park that was the scene of my previous journal post.
That's the path were the tiny feet of Jojo and Ibrahim ran over for about a hundred times or so :)
Most of the time it is vacant as such, I don't know why, even though it's surrounded by vibrant working & studying institutes to where thousands of people go to daily.
Apparently people prefere spending their luch breaks in doors .

An Hour in the Park

Had another gap and went to a small park by the university, not the one previously mentioned by the sea. It was 2pm and I have never seen that much people there. It’s usually deserted, I don’t know why but people here either don’t seem to enjoy nature or don’t want to give themselves some relaxing time.
When I went, there was a woman pushing a baby boy in a stroll accompanied by another woman “probably her mother” and a little girl “the boys sister” who was around 3 years or 4. She looked like a baby doll actually; she was so small and walking in this unbalanced funny way. Her granny was walking around her trying to feed her and she’d called her “Jojo”!! They kept walking around the circumference of the area.
There was a man reading a newspaper, another napping under a tree with his hat covering his face, a couple of college students who were in deep conversation, and a girl reading.
After a while came a mother with a kid of almost the same age as that of Jojo and the same size, and they walked in an opposite direction facing Jojo’s family, when the 2 kids finally met, it was the spark!! They started poking each other as if each is experimenting the nature of the other, a human, a toy?? Then they recognized each other to be of the same species and started running around the place like maniacs. People would stumble at them, one tall guy in particular who could have mistaken them with a cat perhaps from their minute size, stumbled over & leaned and was about to fall but caught the little boy for support, wonder how though! Almost everyone in the place started following them with their eyes, as if you’ve turned the family channel ON. With kids roaming around, Granny trying to locate Jojo let alone her moth to stuff food in there, the mother was trying not to lose track of the boy & the mother pushing the baby in the stroll observing it all and laughing. You could tell from the look on the people’s faces they were really amused. I myself found that I was smiling without realizing I was doing so..
Then came a family, mother & father ,a boy & a girls of around 13 to15 with their school uniforms and bags, and had a seat for a while , probably were waiting for something, for after a while the kids left, then the father left, then the father came, then the mother left, then she came then both parents left. In amidst that Jojo’s family was leaving, turns out they had to go to the bank nearby, and were just waiting for certain timing to go there.
Then a woman came to the boy’s mother took her and they left. That’s when I knew he was called “Ibrahim”
And then I left, leaving behind me the still napping man, the 2 college students, the girl reading some papers, and some men probably going to one of the banks nearby.
It was a nice gap, I left with still a smile on my face, ah well a good way to go back to the routine day that lay ahead.

Fish Fish all in a dish

My dad doesn't usually go fishing, not as much as many people do anyway whom spend their morning or even entire day fishing. But he did go for a couple of hours, and that was his catch!!
The one with silver fish is obviously the fresh catch, the other is after being fried. Looking at them now, I wonder how come after they've been fried, they've shrunken in number?? hmm the mystery of the lost fish :p

Make a wish?!

They looked like 2 shooting stars to many people who saw this picture. Some didn't even notice that there where 2 white thread-like lines in amidst the sky.
But what they really are, is merely 2 airplanes, that strangely enough were flying that close to each other, or atleast it appears that close from down here.

so, to those who thought they were shooting stars, sorry guys, can't make a wish upon airplanes :D

I wonder though, could shooting stars appear any time & not just at night when the sky is pitch black?!!

I saw a shooting star twice in my life till now, one was around 8:00 pm and one was after midnight...

On the Pathway of joggers (3)

Humid weather, lots of perspiration, oh it’s going to be a sticky summer!!
Weather is fluctuating at a high rate these days, ah seasonal changes what can we do but try to adopt.
Not a single wave in the sea, greenish at parts, and transparent at parts showing the rocks covered in green slimy algae beneath.
The sun was hiding for most of the morning behind the mass of puffy white clouds, which is always a good thing, for me at least J
There weren’t a lot of people exercising today, because of the stiff weather? It’s not even June yet, because it’s a working day in the middle of the week? I don’t think so, most of these people exercise daily.
I started off by passing by Mr. Navy Motivator…, with his sunglasses on, & marching as if he’s after something & wants to reach he’s destination. There was also Mr. Chewing gum-shaky hands, but he’s lagging friend wasn’t with him today, maybe he needed a break…
I just noticed that most of the exercisers are middle aged, I hardly ever see 20s or less, so I kept a mental note to make a statistical analysis on the group ages and genders that are keen to exercise!!
On my way back I saw The $ bag lady going to work, today she had 2 heavy bags with her, apart from her dollar-sign bag, and she was dressed in jeans, but the same format of a skirt, top & jacket, but all in jeans. She looked tired, and making a great effort with that load & that weather. I smiled at her encouragingly. It’s a great thing that weather changes don’t prevent her from walking to work.
When I was at school, I used to sometimes walk to school in the morning, which took 1hr 15 minutes!! I always live far from wherever I study, no matter the times we’ve moved in. Anyway, so in winter it was always great, even in the rain, I’d wear my water proof jacket over my backpack & cover my head, & smell the clean fresh air. In summer, well, at first I’d reach school sweaty, so I thought I wouldn’t walk in the summer, but then I missed those morning walks & the people I used to meet opening their shops & send their greetings to everyone they know or don’t know. So I decided that no weather will stop me doing my relaxing habit, & started taking a spare shirt with me, & simply changing my shirt when I reach school, as simple as that.
Back to today, to finish it off, near the end when I was about to reach home, there was a car accident!! A woman in a car hit a pedestrian, he was lying in the middle of the street on his back, but no sign of blood “Thank God”, and the road was jammed with people around him & people calming the frantic lady driver. They told her, he had a broken leg, and that’s probably it –considering that he could’ve been dead, it was a relief to her-. What a sight to start off the day with, it kept haunting me the entire day!!

Cemetery

It’s always a scene that makes me think a lot. Not about a specific thing but life in general. It’s weird though that when I look at the graveyards, I never think about death, but my thoughts wonder about life, the life these people have left behind, the life of their families without them, my life now, my life in years to come..

Apples not allowed

I went to bibliotheca Alexandrina, went to deposit my belongings/bags -since they're not allowed inside the library-. It was very crowded, I stood in a 20 something long queue!! That's not normal, anyway, after finally reaching the window & it's my turn, the lady scans my bags & asks , "do you have food in there??", "yes ", I said, it was an apple, but I didn't tell her, she probably saw it on the screen. "Food is not allowed" she said. " But I did leave my bag before, with food & nobody told me not to", "Well, I don't know about that, but food is not allowed", Now what . I'm not hungry, I still had a very long day and was saving this apple for later, & I'm definetly not throwing it!! :( so what did I do, I just left. Rescheduled my work at the library. That's it. Plus I wasn't going to re-enter that queue again, no thank you.

Now why on earth is it forbidden to leave an apple in my bag at the deposit for a couple of hours? It's not like the apple is gonna rot in this duration & make the place stink or something!!
Ah well, rules rules, like them or not, they're rules. I wonder how would it have been if I had my favourite tuna sandwitch in the bag :D

On the Pathway of joggers (2)

Sunny sunny, with a little breeze, that's spring alright.
I like people who walk to work, even if it's just half the distance.A few of these have started appearing on the pathway, walking in sneakers, and carrying their shoes in a plastic bag :) A regular one , whom I always see, is a woman ,late 30s to 40s, ALWAYS dressed in a skirt, a top & a jacket, the colours vary daily, but mostly dark colours. She ALWAYS has her sunglasses on, & ALWAYS with her $ "dollar sign"bag. It's a beige back with the $ sign.I like it :) and she carries 2 other light bags.Inspite of the load she brisk walks daily. She's one of my favourites , The $ bag lady!!
Another regular pair, 2 men, in their late 40s, the 1st in beige & blue training suit, sunglasses, chewing gum "part of his excercise I assume"& a cap. He does this irritating motion with his right hand, you know when you're hands are wet & you shake the water off, THAT shake , he does it with each swing of his arm, right hand only, I feel irritated for him, I don't know if he even notices or if it irritates him, but imagine shaking your hand for more than an hour !! He's friend is really quit, dressed in Black & white training suit, with a circular beard, most of the times he's lagging a few distance behind his buddy. And these were Mr. chewing gum-shaky hands & his friend.

I have been seeing a girl lately who's grabbing my attention . She wears a Fushia jacket, so that's a head turner in amidst all these blues & blacks, and she doesn't jog, nor walk. She's on the sandy beach walking in a jumping kind of way, as if she's practicing a dance move or something.
Then another day I saw her cycling . But mostly I see her on the sand. Another time sitting with a security man at one of the beach clubs..hmm, I wanna know more!! p.s, I'm not a stalker, just curious :p

Tip of the day:
Water,Water!! If you don't want to take a bottle with you -like me-, drink as much as you can before you start exercise, even if you're not thirsty. It won't make you feel exhausted or drained, so you can excercise for a longer time than you're usual duration After exercise , well, you'll be thirsty so need to tell you to drink.

Lecture!

Interval between lectures, this is not a recent pic. It was the start of the term, even though the pages with writings were increasing at a very high rate.

Camping

Camping at Wadi El Rayan, El Fayoum. This picture was taken at sunset. The sun was setting right behind me, & the moon was infront of me.
It was so beautiful, the feeling of vastness, endless sky & no limit around you.
When night came around, it was even better, with the stars.
A friend of mine started pointing out some constellations & we drew them.We also saw a shooting star!!
We had a bone fire, and had grilled chicken.
There were sounds of wolves, & it wasn't advisable to walk barefoot due to scorpions!! I still don't know how I managed to fall asleep. Not because of the surrounding creatures, but because of the extreme coldness!!

The picture on the right, is 7:00 am.
Obviously, that's the camping site over there, beyond it was the lake .Birds were scattered all over the lake, but it's not apparent from here.
I wonder if that car's track was early that morning, or from yesterday.
The morning was cool with a light breeze, which was decieving since the day turned out to be a very hot one!!

Marmar, Rest In Peace

Marmar, my sibling's guinea pig. She had a companion, can't remember his name, but he died 3 months ago out of illness.
Later Marmar here , followed him , I guess she missed him so much that she wanted to live her after life with him.
She was energetic, and loved to run & hide alot, wasn't much into the games her fellow guinea pigs or hamster's like , like the wheel or all these plastic things.
Why am I writing this? I hated her!! I hate furry animals , eww they gross me.We're supposed to talk positive about the dead ,right?! ehm, sorry then. I just took this picture of her from a long while now and , well , that post is just a little thank you for her, for bringing joy to my siblings all the time she lived with us. May you be re-united with "what's he's name".

Homless Women

Homless people, a normal sight to some at several countries.
I didn't usually see ones at constant places, but people, who you know by their general state to be , Homless.
Recently however , I have seen 2 homless woman, at their own home!!

There I was ,walking on the sidewalk, when I saw the 1st, she was dark coloured, dressed in brown with piles of blankets arround her starting from the wall, and leaving space for 1 person to walk at a time or If some people are intimidated, well better walk on the pavement then.
She was eating something with her hand from a dish, I couldn't actually know what it was, it was pale yellow , and smooth, I tried hard to know what it was, " Come have breakfast with me " She said, interrupting my mission impossible of knowing what that food was. Her tone was welcoming actually, but I was embarrassed, maybe she thought I was hungry, or maybe she was just being politeor maybe even ,she treats passer bys as family. Anyway, I felt weird " Thank you " I said, withought looking her in the face and kept walking.

Just a few meters after that, was the 2nd one.The more self-conscious one!!
Her home was more worked at rather than the previous blanket one. She had cardboards to actually build small 2 walls & a very small roof, but I couldn't actually know the architect behind it, because ,you know, too much staring at these people or their possesions might result in severe consequences. Anyway, she had blankets as well, for the flooring :)She was dressed in black, with black SUNGLASSES "Note : she's sitting on a sidewalk ,under a tree, under the roof she've built, i.e not a ray of sun was near her" She was also wearing a kind of gangster's bracelet, you know the black one with silver thorn-like thingys, that's the one!!
She also had a box turned upside down , & on top of it , some biscuits & tissues, which I assume she was selling. I wonder who would buy from her, because she unlike the previous one, was rather intimidating!!

Ah, what a beatifull way to start your day.
Just to Remember to thank God for my Home,My Family & My Life!!

A Proud Propeller

This massive ship is being pushed forward through its voyage by this red little propeller.Going round & round. under the water, all for the sake of moving whoever's on board for their destination, or just for a zone where they could do some fishing .

It's been longing for some fresh air above the water, and here it is, catching its breath and relaxing for a while, looking proudly at those little propellerless boats, and feeling so important because it carries a greater responsibilty than they do.

One more breath now, before a very long swim under the sea...

Spider's Web

I was wondering how much time it took one tiny spider to spin this complicated web.I looked it up, & it takes less than an hour or something. It usually repair or re-spin the web each day.

But then I think how most people, specially kids, whenever seeing a spider web, they are so tempted to just cut it out and play with the thread. At least I used to do that as a kid , it was so tempting.I also was curious to see if it will stretch with me, or just be cut immediatly.

Thinking about it now, I think ,no , I know it was brutal. It's like a man on an island spending 3 days to build a nice comfy shelter, then a storm comes and brings it all down. At least, this would be nature's doing!! I also like the sight of a trapped fly in the web, it makes me think about the circle of life, how some creatures are ment to be the nutrition of others. Ahh,yes, this sight has got me doing a lot of thinking. Some people mught be disgusted by the spider's web, but just give it a try & marvel at the work of that tiny 8-legged creature's complex creation.
